March 19, 2014: ABM Acquires Service Business of Alpha Mechanical
Alpha’s Design-Build Construction Business Will Continue to Operate Independently
NEW YORK — ABM, a leading national provider of facility solutions, announced that ABM Building Services, a business unit of ABM Building and Energy Solutions, has acquired the service business of Alpha Mechanical Inc. Alpha Mechanical is a leading provider of HVAC service, energy solutions, building controls, plumbing service, and process piping in commercial, life science, education, military and municipal government buildings. Alpha Mechanical is headquartered in San Diego and maintains operations throughout Southern California.
Alpha’s design-build construction business will continue to operate independently as Alpha Mechanical, which has been its core business since its inception in 1991. The service, energy efficiency, and controls business will now become part of ABM’s national contractor network.
“Alpha Mechanical has built a strong service business over the last several years and I am excited to be part of ABM’s nationwide service network and begin to utilize the Linc Service® operations model to deliver even better service to our clients. Our commitment to quality and customer excellence will only continue to be enhanced by this change,” said Mark Swearingen, Alpha Mechanical’s chief operating officer, who will continue his leadership role as the vice president and general manager of ABM Building Services in San Diego.
ABM will continue to rely on Alpha Mechanical as a partner for design-build mechanical construction when required to support its clients in Southern California.
“We have a large number of existing ABM clients in the surrounding San Diego area and adding in-house specialists that deliver HVAC, energy solutions, and other technical services will be welcomed by our clients,” said Carlos Murrieta, regional director of ABM Onsite Services. “They see the efficiencies gained from using ABM as their single service provider.”
