ACCA Contractors of the Year

We Care, Haller to Be Honored at ACCA 2014 in Nashville

By Matt Bishop
March 17, 2014

ACCA named We Care Plumbing, Heating, and Air, Murrieta, Calif., as its 2014 Residential Contractor of the Year and Haller Enterprises Inc., Lititz, Pa., as its Commercial Contractor of the Year. Both award-winning contractors will be honored during the closing MainStage ceremonies at the 2014 ACCA Conference in Nashville, Tenn.

Residential Contractor of the Year

Recognized for its dedication to quality installations (QI) and providing its customers with the comfort they both want and deserve, We Care Plumbing, Heating, and Air was chosen by ACCA officials as the best of the best.

“Receiving the award makes me speechless,” said Rusty Cochran, owner, We Care. “What an honor this award truly is for our company. Our team has worked so hard with all the growth we have had over the past couple of years and the ACCA Residential Contractor of the Year award justifies all of our efforts.”

The company, which opened in 2000, has seen rapid but sustainable growth every year since 2007. They credit their double-digit growth each year to ACCA’s QI standard, becoming quality assured (QA) accredited, and having a team that is well-trained and focused on doing what is best for customers. To remain competitive in its market, the company has taken training beyond just sales, technical skills, and customer service to a full-blown career development program that encourages all team members to not only grow professionally, but personally, as well.

“Each year, many of the best residential contractors in the industry apply for this award and share the unique business practices that make them so successful,” said Paul Stalknecht, ACCA president and CEO. “It is always a difficult decision for our panel of judges to choose who they consider the ‘best of the best’ from the group. This year’s winner, We Care Air, is an extremely deserving company that truly exemplifies the qualities that all of the best companies in the industry share.”

Commercial Contractor of the Year

Haller’s business strategy of creating partnerships within the industry, its company, and its community helped set it apart from the other finalists.

“We are absolutely thrilled and filled with pride at being recognized as the ACCA Commercial Contractor of the Year,” said John Michel, president, Haller Enterprises. “We feel it is a complete team effort by all the members of our Haller team. This is a major achievement and we appreciate every opportunity to serve all of our Haller customers.”

Started in 1981, the multilocation contracting company has seen steady growth even in the toughest economies. Company leaders credit their success to continually improving its interior processes and working closely with manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors to reach the ultimate goal of having happy, loyal, long-term customers. Included in their strong business strategy is a comprehensive training program that caters to the learning styles of team members and has created a staff that’s eager to learn. The leadership team focuses on growing the strengths of each team member and encourages them to help grow the industry by becoming involved with the local trade schools.

“Again this year we had a number of innovative commercial contractors apply for this award,” Stalknecht said. “Our judges always have an extremely tough decision to make when they pick the recipient of this award. This year’s winner, Haller Enterprises, illustrates the characteristics that all of the best commercial contractors in the country have in common.”
