The Ecoline reciprocating compressor series has expanded from use with R-134a to other refrigerants — R-404A, R-407A, R-407C, R-407F, and R-507A. The pressure drop has been lowered by redesigning the valve plates and cylinder heads as well as pistons and rods. The virtually stepless capacity control [CRII] enables capacity control from 10-100 percent, said the company. The series has a horsepower range from 0.5-50 hp and includes three specially adapted, high-efficiency motor options: Motor 1 is for high-temp applications; Motor 2 is for refrigeration applications up to 35°F saturated suction temperature (SST); and Motor 3 is intended for supermarket R-134a applications. According to the manufacturer, the compressors are backward-compatible with the previous generation, as the mounting holes and service valves match up for easy installation.
