AUSTIN, Texas — As part of a partnership with Nest, Green Mountain Energy Co. is offering customers the opportunity to pair 100 percent renewable electricity with the Nest® Learning Thermostat™. Consumers can now receive the thermostat at no charge as part of the Pollution Free™ Efficient with Nest renewable electricity package offered in Green Mountain’s service areas in Texas, New York, Pennsylvania, and Illinois.

The Nest thermostat is designed to learn the homeowner’s schedule, enabling it to automatically save energy for the user when nobody is home, and it can be controlled from a smartphone or computer. Green Mountain said it is Nest’s only retail electricity partner that is dedicated to renewable energy.

“Pairing 100 percent renewable energy with the Nest Learning Thermostat aligns with our customers’ and company’s passion for doing the right thing for the environment,” said James Steffes, president, Green Mountain Energy Co. “We’re a company founded on the mission to ‘change the way power is made,’ which we’re further enabling by giving consumers the opportunity to conserve all they can and use renewable energy to cover the rest.”

Customers who sign up for the Pollution Free Efficient with Nest plan receive a Nest Learning Thermostat, a $249 retail value, at no charge. Other benefits of the plan include:

• Fixed-rate contract with electricity from 100 percent wind energy.

• A $50 voucher to Green Mountain’s Energy Saver online store of home energy-efficient products to help customers enhance their conservation efforts.

• Access to online tools that provide the customer’s individual energy use and tips for saving more.
