ETOBICOKE, Ontario — Covertech announced that it has been granted U.S. Patent No. 8,221,871, the company’s third patent for its rFoil insulation. This follows the earlier grant of U.S. Patent No. 7,935,410 and No. 7,935,411. The inventor named in each patent is Furio Orologio, one of the founders of Covertech.

The company said the inventions result from its extensive research to satisfy the need for reflective thermal insulation meeting Class A standards. The two earlier patents were directed to the use of insulation comprising metalized polymeric film for bubble-pack assemblies. The latest patent extends the use of the insulation based on metalized polymeric film to other structures as well, such as multi-layered assemblies or foams.

John Starr, vice president/partner of Covertech, said, “This latest patent significantly expands the scope of our patent portfolio. We are pleased to offer this group of patents for licensing on reasonable terms.”

Starr noted that those interested in a license under the patents may contact him directly at johnstarr@covertechfab.com or 416-798-1340 ext. 206, or through patent counsel of record, Mark Sullivan of Morgan Lewis & Bockius, Washington, D.C., at mark.sullivan@morganlewis.com.
