Bosch Thermotechnology North America: Hot-Water Indirect Storage Tanks
March 26, 2012
The domestic hot-water indirect storage tank lines WST and SST offer plumbing and HVAC professionals simplified installation and superior durability, which ensures fewer callbacks while providing end users years of reliable operation, the company said. The WST line of enameled steel storage tanks is available in three models with capacities of 50, 80, and 119 gallons. According to the manufacturer, the tanks offer unique features such as an integrated solar pump station mounting bracket for simplified installation, an electrically isolated 4.5-kW heating element that extends tank lifespan, and a large surface area heat exchanger for a higher heat transfer capacity. The WST line displays standby heat loss characteristics of 0.7, 0.6, and 0.5°F an hour, respectively. The tanks are designed specifically for the North American contractor market and for easy integration with all Bosch and Buderus solar, tankless, geothermal, and boiler applications. The SST line of storage tanks is available in capacities of 40, 65, 80, and 119 gallons. A welded and passivated stainless steel tank and heat exchanger paired with 2-inch-thick, high-density 13.4 R value insulating foam core ensures optimal heat retention for on-demand use. The heating coil efficiently transfers high volumes of heat from the source to the domestic water stored in the tank. A computer-guided six-axis robotic welder affixes stainless steel fittings and coil to the stainless steel found in the SST line.
