HRAI Presents Orvil L. Davie Award
MISSISSAUGA, Ontario - The Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) announced the most recent recipient of HRAI’s Orvil L. Davie Memorial Fund bursary. HRAI Chair Rusty Jennings named David Buckle of Algonquin College in Ottawa as the recipient of the $1,000 award.
Buckle will be completing his certificate of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician in August 2011. He became interested in a career in the HVACR industry because of the broad spectrum of skills required. Larry Gravelle of Yorkland Controls presented David with his award at theYorkland Controls Ottawa Branch in Ottawa.
Recipients of the Orvil L. Davie Bursary can apply the award to their registration/tuition fees, training materials, or travel and living expenses related to their course of study. The Orvil L. Davie Memorial Fund was established in 1987 in honor of HRAI’s first chair, Orvil L. Davie. The purpose of the fund is to encourage students to seek a career in the HVACR industry by providing bursaries to those requiring financial assistance. Over 70 percent of the current fund balance consists of direct donations from companies in the HVACR industry.
