ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Jeffrey Horn, president and CEO of BOMI International, announced that the organization, formerly known as the Building Owners and Managers Institute International, will now be known as BOMI International, the Independent Institute for Property and Facility Management Education.

“As the world’s premier provider of education for those managing buildings and other facilities, our new name more accurately reflects BOMI International’s status on the world stage,” said Horn.

“BOMI International is a college without boundaries. Some of our students take our LEED-approved courses in classrooms in the United States and Canada and some take our courses in classrooms across the globe. In addition, many have taken a BOMI International course without ever stepping foot in a classroom through self-study or our very popular instructor-led online format. Our courses also appear in other college catalogues, and are accredited by the American Council on Education (ACE).”

According to Horn, corporations and government entities send employees to BOMI International courses. “Our classes are strongly recommended and sometimes required for certain government employees,” he explained.

“Our designations act as letters of credibility in the industry all over the world, ensuring employers that those holding BOMI International designations possess the knowledge and skills to perform their jobs at the highest levels. It reflects our plans to raise international standards for property and facility management professionals and for those seeking to enter these important professions.”

The name change comes as BOMI International celebrates its 40th anniversary. For more information, visit www.bomi.org.
