Nov. 5, 2008: AHRI Adds Heating Equipment to Its Online Directory
ARLINGTON, Va. - The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) has announced that performance certified heating equipment, in addition to air conditioning and commercial refrigeration equipment, can now be accessed at its certified product online directory at www.ahridirectory.org.
Before the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute merged with the Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association at the beginning of this year, the two organizations listed certified products in separate online directories. Now, the combined organization provides access to all of the industry’s performance certified equipment and components from one directory.
“The ability to search for certified equipment from one easy-to-remember URL has greatly enhanced the usefulness of the directory,” said AHRI President Stephen Yurek. “Before, technicians and consumers had to find certified central air conditioners in one directory and furnaces or boilers in another directory. Now, they can find all the information they need in one place.”
From the directory home page, users can search for equipment and components that span more than 30 different residential and commercial HVACR products. An expanded, advanced search tool allows you to identify equipment by product lines, certified ratings, and manufacturer or trade name.
For each product listed in the directory, users can print a “Certificate of Product Performance” that includes the product’s certified ratings. These certificates are often required by utilities or municipalities for rebates or incentives offered for energy efficiency upgrades made to homes or commercial buildings. They also are required for federal energy efficiency tax deductions or incentives.
“These certificates are especially valuable to HVACR contractors who want to differentiate themselves from their competitors,” said Yurek. “They tell us that these certificates provide the credible backing of AHRI when they are selling performance certified equipment and certified matched systems.”
AHRI is the trade association representing manufacturers of air conditioning, heating, and commercial refrigeration equipment. Its 330 member companies account for more than 90 percent of the residential and commercial air conditioning, space heating, water heating, and commercial refrigeration equipment manufactured and sold in North America.
