The 285 PSI ductile iron butterfly valve is an addition to the company’s commercial-industrial line of butterfly valves. According to the manufacturer, strength and durability are the key features making this valve a viable alternative to high-performance butterfly valves in nonsteam applications, and it is a cost-effective choice where specifications allow substitutions. The ductile iron body of the valve has more than twice the strength of cast iron and is on par with cast steel, which equates to higher durability and impact resistance, according to the company. With sizes ranging from 2 to 12 inches, there are numerous applications including HVAC (condensers, chilled water, hot-water heating), domestic hot and cold water, isolation, and throttling. This valve cannot be used for air service, says the company. Both the wafer-style (WD 5022) and lug-style (LD 5022) are available as bare-stem, lever-operated, or manual gear-operated valves.
