ROCKVILLE, Md. - The Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) is expanding its National Education Initiative (NEI) course offerings with 11 new courses in the Fundamentals of Project Management and the Advanced Supervisory Education programs.

The new Fundamentals of Project Management courses are:

  • Basic Construction Law Concepts for Mechanical Project Managers

  • Best Practices of Blue Chip Mechanical Project Managers

  • High Impact Communication Skills

  • Managing the Risk of Owner-Furnished Equipment

  • Profitably Managing Your Subcontractors

  • Successful Survival of Project Closeout

  • Value-Based Mechanical Project Management

    The new Advanced Supervisory Education courses are:

  • Everyday Negotiating Skills for Jobsite Supervisors

  • Managing Your Subcontractors

  • Practical Time Management Skills for Foreman

  • Qualities, Characteristics and Habits of the Industry's Best Foreman

    The courses are taught by Professor John Koontz, MCAA's national director for project management and advanced supervisory education. Koontz is a graduate of MCAA's Institute for Project Management (IPM) and Advanced Institute for Project Management (AIPM) training programs, and serves as director of both programs. He previously was on the faculty of Purdue University's Department of Building Construction Management.

    MCAA affiliated associations and other customers may begin scheduling these new courses immediately. Each course carries a flat fee of $3,750, which includes the instructor's teaching fees and travel costs, as well as all course materials. There is no limit to the number of participants in a course.
