ARLINGTON, Va. - Combined U.S. factory shipments of 374,689 central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps for November were down 4 percent compared to shipments from the same month of 2003, according to Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) statistics. Combined unitary shipments of 6,994,556 units for the first 11 months of 2004 are up 9 percent compared to the same period of 2003.
Heat pump shipments for November of 116,524 were down 0.4 percent compared to November 2003. The year-to-date total of 1,756,193 is up 16 percent from January-November 2003.
November distributor shipments were up 8 percent from November 2003, with year-to-date shipments up 5 percent.
