October 25, 2003
Home improvement store Lowe's installed a solar electric system at its West Hills location in Los Angeles. The installation is one of the largest commercial solar rooftop electric systems in the nation and the largest at any retail store in the country, according to PowerLight Corp., which furnished the solar system. The 370-kW system is capable of generating enough electricity during the day to power more than 370 homes.
