March 27, 2006: State Incentives Database Includes Energy Efficiency

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Database of State Incentives for Renewable Energy (DSIRE), which offers information on government and utility incentives for renewable energy, now also provides information on energy efficiency incentives. The North Carolina Solar Center, which manages the DSIRE Website, announced that the site has been expanded to include state and federal incentives for energy efficiency upgrades; purchases of energy efficient products or systems; and construction of new energy efficient buildings.
The free Web resource supplies incentive details, links to program Websites, and contacts. Incentives include:
tax credits and deductions
rebates
low-interest loans
grants
property tax exemptions
sales tax exemptions
bond programs
Users can search for efficiency incentives by state, by technology (insulation, lighting, etc.), by incentive type (tax credit, rebate, etc.), and other criteria.
