Push to Fit Connect Fittings Quiz

Do you want to test your Push to Fit Connect Fittings knowledge? Take this 9 question quiz put together by The NEWS to see if you are a superstar or need to go back to the classroom.

Push to Fit Connect Fittings Quiz

1. Can push to fit connect fittings hold the same pressures as traditionally connected (brazed brass to copper) fittings?
A. Yes
B. No
Yes. Push to fit connect fittings have been proven to hold up to 870 psi with no problems. In testing, the copper tubing actually split before the products leaked at the fitting connection!
2. The push to fit connect fittings are similar in their application to Shark Bite fittings on water pipes, except that push to fit fittings are for refrigerants and they hold a lot more pressure.
A. True
B. False
True. As described above, Push to fit connect fittings are proven to handle up to 870 psi. Also, they are compatible with major refrigerants, including R410A and R22.
3. Push to fit connect fittings require an expensive tool in order for them to be installed / connected.
A. True
B. False
False. Push to fit connect fittings only require your fingers to make the perfect connection! Other flame-free products require a heavy duty tool, costing around $3,000, in order to make the connections of the fittings onto the tubing.
4. Can push to fit connect fittings be used on VRF / VRV installations?
A. Yes
B. No
Yes. Push to fit connect fittings have been tested successfully on Variable Refrigerant Flow / Variable Refrigerant Volume applications and are proven to work effectively.
5. Push to fit connect fittings can be easily removed and reused from a non-pressurized, installed connection using a removal tool.
A. Yes
B. No
Yes. Some Push to fit connect fittings have a simple and inexpensive, but very useful tool for easily removing fittings which need to be taken-off of the tubing after a connection has been made. While it is not recommended to be reused after refrigerant has been pressurized through it, a non-pressurized, installed / connected fitting can be removed and used in the same (or a different) connection again.
6. Push to fit connect fittings have been used successfully in air conditioning and refrigeration applications in other countries for years.
A. True
B. False
True. Push to fit connect fittings have been proven to work successfully in Europe and Asia for over ten years.
7. Push to fit connect fittings are compatible with major refrigerants, including R410A and R22.
A. True
B. False
True. Push to fit connect fittings have been tested and proven to work with the major refrigerants used in the U.S. today.
8. What helps make push to fit connect fittings hold such a strong seal on high pressures?
A. Materials of construction
B. Special O-rings
C. A thoroughly researched, tested and proven design
D. All of the above
All of the above. Push to fit connect fittings took years of research and testing before the current designs were finalized. Also, the elastomers and the body of the fittings are made of very specific materials. The unique designs of these products, paired with the use of very specific materials of construction, have allowed for an industry-changing way of making brass-to-copper connections in HVAC/R applications.
9. Push to fit connect fittings are constructed mostly of which material?
A. Aluminum
B. Brass
C. Copper
Brass. The body of the Push to fit connect fittings are brass, which is the same material as the traditional fittings used in HVAC/R applications.
