For most people, sunny and 72°F are the perfect weather conditions. But then again, HVACR contractors are not like most people. They prefer temperature extremes and why not?

If I’m inside my home under these conditions, I have the windows open and the heat and a/c sitting idly by. I have no reason to have a tune-up or at worst, a replacement.

Out of sight and out of mind. If you are comfortable with that philosophy, then enjoy the last days of your profitless business existence.

For one thing, the economy stinks right now and lots of money that would normally go into service and maintenance is going into the gas tanks and grocery store shopping carts. I speak from experience - higher prices are a budget killer. I can’t see shelling out $129 for an a/c tune-up.

But wait a minute, duh. I don’t have to. I have a maintenance contract with my HVACR contractor. I paid for the tune-up last year when I had more disposable income. Geesh, what was I thinking? I better call “my guy” and have the system checked. He has my money and that is his job.

What’s that you say? You don’t have enough maintenance agreements to sustain yourself through these sunny, 72° days?

It might not be too late to start pounding the pavement. There may still be a few people around with disposable income. Go find them.
