The exhibit unveiled Evergreen™ IM, a universal ECM aftermarket motor for residential heating and cooling applications.
A federal district court in New Mexico granted a preliminary injunction to stop the city of Albuquerque, N.M., from enforcing its new Energy Conservation Code and High Performance Building Ordinance. The court stated that while the city’s goals were laudable, the code, as enacted, “infringes on an area preempted by federal law.”
Women in HVACR (WHVACR) held its fifth annual conference in Atlanta. Attendees began conference activities with a networking reception. WHVACR President Karen Riffice of Soderlund Brothers Inc., Oak Lawn, Ill., opened the following day’s events with a report on the association’s activities over the last year.
The National Air Filtration Association (NAFA) honored 24 commercial properties with The Clean Air Award. Award winners were recognized for excellence and leadership in air filtration. The program was instituted to promote and recognize the use of high efficiency filtration products and good maintenance practices.

The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) released Understanding Manual Q: Low Pressure, Low Velocity Duct Design in the Real World, which covers information on Manual Q, ACCA’s industry standard system for designing duct systems that are used in the majority of low-rise commercial applications.

Much of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society’s (RSES’) extensive inventory of training courses is finding its way to the Internet. Service technicians can sit at a computer; study what they want at their own pace, take an exam online, and print out their own certificate of completion. “E-Learning is our future,” said RSES International President Larry Lynn.
The Restoration Industry Association (RIA) will hold its Annual Fall Conference and Exhibition in Baltimore, Nov. 18-22. Comprising the event are several education sessions: a mold refresher course, a one-day Environmental Conference, a two-day Restoration Conference, and two optional one-day courses.
