During its June meeting, the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) Career Development Committee awarded 2015 Chapter of Excellence and Emerging Chapter Grants to 13 MCAA student chapters and Faculty Internship Grants to two faculty advisors.

As concerns about the environmental impact of energy generation and uncertainty over future energy prices increase, efficiency improvements in commercial HVAC equipment are becoming more enticing. 

Goettl Air Conditioning in Tempe, Arizona, recently donated two commercial evaporative air conditioners to Max’s Community Closet, helping the charity keep its doors open during the height of the hot summer months. The project, including the purchase and installation of the units, was valued at $12,000.

The Bosch Thermotechnology Corp. Green Living Awards contest is returning for 2015. The contest, now in its third year, recognizes both residential and commercial projects that incorporate Bosch Thermotechnology products.

Each school will receive a Hypertherm Powermax45 plasma cutting and gouging system, Hypertherm’s AWS SENSE-approved “Plasma Cutting Technology: Theory and Practice” curriculum kit, and in-person training from a Hypertherm industrial cutting expert.

Based on ASHRAE’s Humidity Control Design Guide for Commercial and Institutional Buildings, the course includes an in-depth discussion of moisture load calculations and how humidity control can be added to HVAC designs for seven different types of commercial buildings. 

The ACCA July Contractor Comfort Index (CCI) scored an 80, exhibiting that contractors’ positive outlooks on short-term growth is continuing as summer 2015 hits its midpoint.
