Answers question of how energy efficient buildings can become if first cost is not considered
May 13, 2016
Application of 30 specific energy savings measures across all building types and climate zones resulted in cutting energy use by nearly half, according to results of newly approved research funded by ASHRAE.
Users can input project parameters and then calculate projected performance and compliance
February 10, 2016
ASHRAE has announced a new web application that automates the calculations needed to show a building project’s compliance with Standard 90.1-2010. The 90.1 ECB web application is a tool for modeling compliance using the Energy Cost Budget (ECB) method in the standard.
Document gives users immediate access to selected addenda to be published in the 2016 version of the standard
February 3, 2016
A newly published document from ASHRAE and the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) gives users of their energy efficiency standard access to an optional third path for compliance, providing more flexibility for the industry.
Some addenda open until Oct. 4, others open until Oct. 19
September 24, 2015
Twenty-three addenda to the energy standard published by ASHRAE and the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) — ANSI/ASHRAE/IES Standard 90.1-2013, Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings — are currently open for public comment.
Will Give the Standard More of an International View
December 29, 2014
New proposed climate data could make the ASHRAE/IES energy standard more applicable for global use. Addendum w is one of 10 proposed addenda to ANSI/ASHRAE/IES Standard 90.1-2013, Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings, open for public comment.
The Manual Helps Users of the Standard Understand Its Principles and Requirements
July 14, 2014
ASHRAE has announced that guidance on how to incorporate changes regarding the building envelope, mechanical systems, lighting, and the energy cost budget in the 2013 ASHRAE/IES energy standard is included in a new user’s manual.
Reducing Building Energy Use and Cost Remains Primary
October 21, 2013
Major changes to requirements regarding mechanical equipment, building envelope, lighting, and the energy cost budget and modeling are contained in the newly updated ASHRAE energy standard.
With the 2013 version of the ASHRAE/IES energy standard scheduled for publication later this year, ASHRAE said a number of changes are being proposed to strengthen its requirements. A total of 26 proposed addenda to ANSI/ASHRAE/IES Standard 90.1-2010 are currently open for public comment.
