Robert Allen is the vice president of the Johnstone Supply branch in Sacramento, Calif., as well as sister stores in Modesto and Stockton, Calif., and Sparks, Nev. He started his HVAC career as an HVAC technician. During his years in the field, Allen ran into what he called, “the compressor burnout from hell.” That was his description of an inoperative two-ton package residential air conditioner. Allen’s task was to bring this compressor back to life. The question was, “Could he do it?”

Jones founded his eponymous company in Kansas City in 1939, believing that
contractors could benefit from purchasing wholesale heating supplies in one
convenient location. He started out with three employees and a limited
inventory, betting on a hunch that contractors would embrace his business model
of buying products from one knowledgeable source. Did his bet pay off?

Mingledorff's
Inc. continues to build on its long history in the HVACR industry, evolving,
growing, and innovating as the decades have passed. Bud Mingledorff joined the
company in 1962 working part-time as its only parts department warehouseman. He
became a room unit floor plan checker in 1965. After serving in the Army from
1968 to 1970, he returned as the company's pricing administrator. From there he
moved up the ranks and has become the president of the company and HARDI. How
did he do it and what is on the horizon?
The HVAC industry lost a great leader and pioneer as Karl Gustave Adrian Larson passed away March 4 in Palm Springs, Calif. Larson served as president, CEO, and chairman of the Gustave A. Larson Co. from 1960 to 2012. He was 80 years old upon his passing.
