Residential and light commercial controls were on full display at the AHR Expo, with manufacturers highlighting new thermostats and other control solutions designed to help contractors simplify installation, streamline commissioning, and more easily monitor and service systems in the field.

What HVAC contractors will like about this product: The Sensi Touch 2 thermostat is designed to save contractors time and labor by eliminating the need to pull new thermostat wiring. Using a wireless equipment interface module (EIM), the thermostat communicates by radio signal and can be powered by a local 24 V source, allowing contractors to reuse existing two- or four-wire setups common in older homes. By eliminating the need for a common wire or five-wire connection typically required for Wi-Fi touchscreen thermostats, the system doesn’t require pulling new thermostat wire or opening walls. The result is faster installs, fewer headaches in difficult retrofits, and improved profitability compared to labor-intensive rewiring jobs.
