When Jacob Nolley graduated from Purdue University, his wife was still in school, so he needed a local job. So he called around and landed a job as an intro-level residential dispatcher at a family-owned HVAC company.
“They had just on boarded to ServiceTitan with a TitanScore of 42/100 (metric for how well you use the tool),” Nolley said. “Within one month, I got their score to 98, which was the first time a company had ever surpassed a score of 90. I quickly ended up managing both their residential and commercial service departments alongside the family and began automating their back-office.”
After obtaining years of experience working for an HVAC company, and with his background in digital technology, Nolley developed The Graphite Lab, a company dedicated to helping HVAC businesses maximize their technology solutions by connecting them with the necessary tools and expertise to succeed. Also through the industry knowledge he gained, Nolley saw that each HVAC company is complex, and often needs “tiny gap filling solutions to be able to fully leverage their CRMs and to adopt automation in the business.”
This led Nolley to the development of The Toolbox, a web app filled with micro solutions that help companies fill in their gaps, making it easier for contractors to manage technology and digital workflow. The Toolbox is a digital companion that was designed to help contractors simplify, automate, and enhance their business processes.
Another high point of Nolley’s career was when he helped an HVAC-owner customer of his take a well-deserved and well-needed vacation.
“Last year at the end of the year a long time customer of mine messaged me that they were taking their first family vacation in over a decade,” Nolley said. “It was a huge honor to be able to help him not have to worry so much about the logistics of his back office and to clear his plate of all of the manual work he was doing on a day to day business.
Moving ahead, Nolley want to continue to focus on integrating cutting-edge technology to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and improve customer satisfaction.
“Through The Graphite Lab, I aim to empower HVAC companies with innovative tools and solutions that drive growth and sustainability,” Nolley said.
