Over the last 14 years, Gwen Campbell has risen from an entry-level HVAC sales position at a local company to head coach at Business Development Resources (BDR), a training authority for home services professionals. Along the way, she gained meaningful experience in virtually every office, operations, and supervisory division of the HVAC industry, including sales, marketing, installation and service management, accounting, and back-office operations.
“I grew up in the industry,” Campbell said. “My grandparents started an HVAC company in the early 1980s. I was so proud of my family for owning a business, and I always knew I wanted to be a part of it.”
During her time working for the business, Campbell delivered results that transformed the company. This included the residential retrofit department increasing the average sale from $5,500 to $10,000, the company increasing gross profit per technician per day from $400 to over $1,500, and the residential service department average ticket rising from $130 to more than $450.
As a head coach for BDR, Campbell currently shares her expertise with 24 client businesses monthly. Her insights and knowledge help contractors identify and implement strategies to properly structure their companies for growth and maximize profitability. Over the last year, she led 15 onsite coaching sessions with companies in 8 different states.
Her passion as a rising leader in the HVAC industry is helping contractors build an effective sales culture.
“I would say my biggest goal is to help HVAC owners get the free time that they need to be able to enjoy taking vacations again or eating dinner with their family,” she said. “If I can help these owners get that time, then that is changing not just that person’s life but their families’ lives as well.”
