The SM-5229 Tacky Tape® is an asbestos-free butyl tape designed for sealing duct connections in mechanically fixed flanged joints to prevent dust, air, and moisture from entering through details found in HVAC systems. It is fungus and mildew resistant, the company says. Testing indicates that the tape is resistant to ultraviolet radiation, infrared radiation, precipitation, atmospheric hydrocarbon contamination, and extremes in temperature, the manufacturer states. It comes in 25-foot-long rolls, with 20 rolls in a case.
