WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Registration is now underway for the 20th International Compressor Engineering Conference, the 13th International Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Conference, and the 1st International High Performance & Green Buildings Conference, all of which will take place simultaneously, July 12-15, on the Purdue University campus in West Lafayette, Ind.

The compressor conference and the refrigeration/air conditioning conference will include papers on wide ranging aspects of the technology. At the last conference in 2008, there were 108 papers on compressors and 146 on RAC.

According to a release from the Purdue University Ray W. Herrick Laboratories, the 1st International High Performance & Green Buildings Conference will cover “areas of building design and performance, including building thermal systems, solar energy use in buildings, sustainable buildings, green technologies, building envelope/facades, net-zero building design, ventilation, building-integrated photovoltaic, indoor environment, human comfort, acoustics, building simulation, integrated building design, and related case studies.”

In addition to those three events, there will be three short courses each running July 10-11. They will cover an introduction to compressors, supermarket refrigeration, and high performance building technologies.

The compressor short course will cover “the current status and applications of refrigeration compressors, rotary compressors, reciprocating compressors, scroll compressors, screw compressors, centrifugal compressors, automotive compressors, novel compression concepts, compressor valve design, noise and vibration issues and bearings and friction,” according to the Purdue statement.

The supermarket course “will present results from the International Energy Agency Heat Pump Program’s Annex 31, a collaborative project between Sweden, Canada, Germany, the U.K., and the U.S. Descriptions and capabilities of simulation models for supermarkets and their refrigeration systems” will be presented.

The third course on high performance building technologies “will emphasize building envelopes, integrated solar, ventilation and indoor environments.”

During the July 12-15 conferences, keynote speakers will cover such topics as “solar and zero energy buildings in Canada,” “super-performance compressors,” “CO2 commercial refrigeration systems in Europe”, and “the ‘greening’ of businesses.”

Discounted registration fees are available through May 31. Also, registrations will be taken through the start of the conference including on-site registration.
