PORTLAND, Ore. — David Lauren Ramsey, 52, passed away in his office on May 13, 2003. Mr. Ramsey was CEO and president of United Pipe & Supply Co. Inc., a wholesale-distribution company with 23 locations throughout Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.

He was also described as “a loving husband and father of three.” He was a Portland resident for the past 28 years.

David Ramsey graduated from Southern Oregon State University in 1973 with a degree in Business Administration. As a college student, he worked nights and weekends for his father, helping him set up United Pipe & Supply’s warehouses, according to marketing coordinator Marcia Vaughn. He joined the company full time after graduating in 1973.

“Dave’s impact on the company was tremendous,” stated Vaughn, “growing sales in excess of $100,000,000 and expanding locations to include Washington and Idaho markets.”

Friends and associates described him as a “forward thinker, adopting new technologies in warehousing and distribution.” He was the recipient of an Oregon Business Technology Award. He also recently hosted a United Pipe 50th year celebration, with a total of 600 employees and guests invited for a Mexican weekend cruise trip.

Mr. Ramsey is survived by his wife Patricia Ann Ramsey; daughters Leslie Patricia Ramsey, Molly Anne Cook, and Jenny Jo Morrison; father Taylor Ramsey; sister Claudia Powell; and brother Steve Ramsey.
