In the heart of Miami's relentless heat and humidity, Katerina and Yinon Horwitz embarked on a journey to create a haven of comfort for their young family. The only problem: Their two-story home’s aging HVAC system didn’t stand a chance against Florida’s hot temperatures.

The units were from 2011, and not only were they outdated, but the equipment had also accumulated years of dust and debris that compromised the system’s cooling efficiency and air quality. Additionally, the units lacked synchronization, providing varying levels of comfort throughout the home’s multi-story layout. The system struggled to maintain a balanced temperature, leading to excessive heating on one floor and overcooling on the other.

On the advice of Adrian Gonzalez, president of A&P Air Conditioning, the Horwitzes decided on Rheem’s multi-stage Endeavor Line Classic Plus Series Variable Speed Air Conditioner and 3-Stage Air Handler. Designed in response to tougher Department of Energy regulations that took effect this year, the Endeavor Line provides dependable comfort throughout the home while offering high energy efficiency and reduced energy bills.

HVAC technology and equipment has progressed exponentially over the past few years, and the U.S. consumer base is much more educated than it used to be. Beyond lower costs and a cooler home, the Endeavor Line provides tech-savvy and environmentally mindful consumers like the Horwitzes with smart home compatibility and sustainable features. The EcoNet app allows consumers to effortlessly control home temperatures from the convenience of their smartphones regardless of location, and the units’ 7-millimeter condenser coil minimizes refrigerant needs by up to 15%, reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Gonzalez said the units do an amazing job of providing exactly the cooling needed. If a space is overcooling and the unit shuts off too quickly, it can create humidity issues, but undercooling creates heat issues. This unit can vary its capacity between 45% and 70% in order to get the right temperature at the right time.

Thanks to built-in Bluetooth connectivity that makes install easier and faster, the units were up and running in just a matter of hours — and the difference was immediate. The home was noticeably cooler, yet the Horwitz family could no longer feel or hear the system working overtime. Several months later, they have also witnessed their energy bill shrink while their comfort at home has increased.
