The Big Man on Planet contest kicks off soon and TRC is announcing details today as the nation celebrates Earth Day.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - It’s Earth Day, and to celebrate, Thermostat Recycling Corp. (TRC) announced that its 2013 Big Man On Planet (BMOP) competition will begin on May 15.

The competition is in partnership with HARDI and both TRC and the organization are encouraging distributors to enter and participate in hopes of collecting the most thermostats at their branches nationwide by Oct. 31.

Winners will be chosen by TRC and recognized at HARDI’s annual conference, Dec. 7-10 in Phoenix. “The BMOP competition taps into the hardworking and competitive nature of HARDI members to encourage the recovery of more mercury thermostats nationwide,” said Mark Tibbetts, TRC executive director. “Winners of this award will be distinguished from their competitors for being publicly recognized for their commitment to protecting the environment.”

Interested distributors already collecting through TRC’s program can enter the competition by signing up and requesting a promotional kit at www.thermostatrecycle.org/BMOP. For those not yet participating in the collection program and are interested in doing so, more information is available at www.thermostat-recycle.org, or by calling 888-266-0550.
