UTI-Austin Rolls Out New HVACR Program

The campus also celebrated its first anniversary in May

The Universal Technical Institute-Austin (UTI-Austin) campus recently celebrated its first anniversary and announced the following milestones:

  • The Austin campus introduced an HVACR program in July 2023, with the first class starting on July 17. Registration is open for new students.
  • Incoming high school seniors enrolled in the no-cost, three-week Summer Ignite program to get a head start on their training at UTI while learning career skills that are in demand.

The Austin campus hosted its first classes on May 16, 2022, and the 101,315-square-foot facility is designed with an innovative footprint that includes 11 classrooms, six hybrid classroom/labs, and seven stand-alone labs.

As the third UTI campus in Texas, the opening of the Austin branch corresponds with UTI’s ongoing strategic growth and diversification plan that includes extending its transportation, skilled trades, and energy education programs offerings in high demand geographic regions. UTI-Austin offers four core programs including automotive technology II, diesel technology II, welding technology, and combined automotive and diesel technology. The HVACR program starting in July is the fifth for the Austin campus.

“Our students, graduates, industry partners, instructors, and team members have been the driving forces behind our success in this first year of operation. This milestone anniversary serves as the perfect opportunity to look back and recognize our key accomplishments, while looking ahead to an exciting future,” said Julie Mueller, campus president at UTI-Austin.

UTI-Austin has established mutually beneficial relationships with approximately 300 employers who offer part-time and full-time employment opportunities for students, speak to students on campus, and participate in job fairs on campus. Some of these employers are early employment partners.

UTI-Austin job fairs are open to current students and alumni so that they can meet with potential employers, learn about future employment opportunities, and submit their resumes. These job fairs are extremely well-attended, with more than 50 employer partners participating in the job fair that UTI hosted this past March with 1,500 collective job openings.

UTI-Austin routinely offers events and programs for current and potential students interested in pursuing careers in the automotive, diesel, HVACR, and welding fields such as these:

  • National HVAC Tech Day celebrated on June 22;
  • Summer Ignite 2023;
  • Manufacturer-Specific Advanced Training (MSAT) Expo Sept. 7; and
  • Job Fair on Sept. 28.

For more information about Ignite or the new HVACR program, please contact UTI-Austin at 737 284 3100 or access the link to the UTI-Austin campus web site here.
