New Generation of Water-Source Heat Pumps

ORLANDO, Fla. — In a New Product and Technology Theater presentation at the 2016 AHR Expo, David Salyer, product manager, WaterFurnace International Inc., discussed “A New Generation of Water-Source Heat Pumps.”
“Building occupancy is becoming more and more complex,” said Salyer. There is also a lot of regulation, driving energy efficiency and IAQ, as well as the need for better control and monitoring.
To meet these needs, WaterFurnace has introduced the A Class variable speed water-to-air heat pump, offered in 2-6 ton horizontal and vertical models and 10 and 15 ton horizontal and vertical models.
“With variable speed compressor operation, electrical inrush current is 1/10 of comparable fixed speed scroll compressors,” said Salyer. The compressor modulates capacity to match changing load conditions. It also features less frequent compressor start-stop cycles.
The unit offers filtration options of MERV 8 and MERV 13.
Its advanced controls are fully communicating. Monitoring options include true energy monitoring, refrigeration monitoring, and performance monitoring.
