Schneider Electric, City of Tupelo Take on Major Energy Efficiency Project
Will be largest parks and recreation project in the state of Mississippi
DALLAS — Schneider Electric has announced the start of construction on a $5 million energy savings performance contract (ESPC) project with the city of Tupelo, Mississippi. It is expected to reduce the city’s utility budget by 18 percent, saving more than $140,000 in annual energy costs or $2.8 million over the life of the project.
The city of Tupelo faced outdated facilities and aging equipment and technologies throughout its frequented community areas, causing it to miss out on sports tourism revenue and other opportunities for economic growth. Schneider Electric worked closely with the city to develop a turnkey energy efficiency solution that will impact 23 buildings and 27 sports fields, which will revitalize the community for years to come. Key components of the project include mechanical renovations, building automation system (BAS) upgrades, building envelope sealing, new sports field and park lighting, and interior and exterior building lighting. The project is expected to be completed in November 2016.
