EPA Honors Carrier
MONTREAL - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
honored Carrier Corp., a unit of United Technologies Corp., with its
Best-of-the-Best Stratospheric Ozone Protection Award in recognition of the
company’s achievements in helping restore the Earth’s ozone layer. “We are
truly honored that EPA is recognizing Carrier’s environmental leadership with
such a prestigious award,” said John Mandyck, Carrier’s vice president of
government and international relations.
The awards presentation coincides with the 20th anniversary of the United Nations’ Montreal Protocol, which calls for a global elimination of ozone-depleting substances such as CFCs and HCFCs used in air conditioning and refrigeration products. Award nominees were evaluated by the federal EPA staff and judged by an international panel representing industry, government, and nongovernmental organizations.
