March 24, 2005: MSCA Offers Labor Estimating Guide
ROCKVILLE, Md. - The Mechanical Service Contractors of America (MSCA) is accepting orders for its new Labor Estimating Guide for Service. According to the association, the guide provides service contractors with industry consensus data on routine maintenance tasks and average times to complete those tasks for common units of mechanical equipment.
The guide is available in CD-ROM format. It includes a description of the purpose and intended use of the information, a discussion on basic assumptions, a detailed listing of labor correction factors, and a comprehensive list of the routine maintenance tasks for 50 different pieces of equipment, says MSCA. Along with the list of tasks are a description of the procedure required to complete that task, the recommended frequency this task should be performed, and the average time to complete the task.
