Title 24 continues to baffle me. The portion of the program that pertains to HVAC falls under what is known as Title 24, Part 6. It could be a good program, but currently it is not.

One week ago, glitz and glamour reigned supreme as Hollywood rolled out the red carpet once again for the Academy Awards. The HVAC industry has its own glamorous event coming our way this summer - the Dealer Design Awards.

ACES A/C Supply Inc. and ACES A/C Supply North held a combined dealer meeting recently at the Anatole Hotel in Dallas. The meeting was billed as the 2006 American Standard Product and Marketing Debut. More than 500 dealers were in attendance.

In our ever-shrinking world does it really matter where our industry's products are made?

It's difficult to determine what constitutes green HVAC building practices. Some contractors attest that they aren't against green, they just don't know exactly what it is, and what's more, they don't know how to make any money from the concept.

After a three-year hiatus, the 2006 International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Exposition (AHR Expo) came back to Chicago. As is common to the Windy City venue, the 1985 Chicago Bears, NFL Super Bowl champions, were called up for duty at various receptions. The show was one of the biggest in the history of the event.

The International Builders' Show regularly boasts of attendance figures that make it one of the largest expositions in the United States. In that count this year were a high number of HVAC-related businesses. Why so many HVAC companies? As the famous bank robber Willie Sutton said when asked why he robbed banks, "That's where the money is."

It's obvious that home automation is now ubiquitous. But, do we really want to have all those gadgets intertwined in a computerized home reminiscent of "The Jetsons," a 1960s-era Saturday morning cartoon series?
