WaterFurnace International Inc.: Air Cleaners, HRVs, Media Filters

Product additions to the AlpinePure Series line of IAQ products include air cleaners, purifiers, and media filters. According to the manufacturer, the product line is based on the Environmental Protection Agency’s three strategies to improve IAQ: filter the air, ventilate the air, and eliminate the source. The HEPA filter captures 99.97 percent of all particles down to 0.3 microns in size. Incorporating Turbulent Flow Precipitation (TFP) technology, the filter repeatedly hurls particles against internal walls made of a special fabric that traps pollutants as they are cast from the airstream. The heat recovery ventilator (HRV) uses little energy to recondition incoming fresh air. The line’s HRVs can be connected to bathroom and kitchen exhaust ducts, providing silent air circulation. The electrostatic (ES) air filter provides up to 90 percent filtration of dusts, pollens, and molds. Designed for permanent use, the ES air filter creates its own static electrical charge. The MERV 11 filters, available in 2- and 4-inch sizes, are pleated, allowing an increased surface area for more holding capacity and less frequent replacement. The 4-inch offers even more protection against odors and contaminants with the addition of the line’s carbon filter, the company says. As an addition to any WaterFurnace geothermal system, the time-release drain pan treatments can be placed inside the condensate pan. A polyester sock absorbs water, while fighting corrosion and slime buildup inside the pan.
