Sept. 3, 2002: Conference To Examine Antimicrobial-Coated Products

MIDDLETOWN, OH — An October conference will examine antimicrobial coatings and how manufacturers can use these coatings to bring an added measure of cleanliness to consumer and industrial products.

The conference, called "Tapping Into Market Opportunities with Antimicrobial Technology: Methods for Product Enhancement," is being presented by AK Coatings, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of AK Steel Corp. It is scheduled for Tuesday, October 8, at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare, in Chicago, IL.

Antimicrobial coatings inhibit the growth of bacteria, molds, and fungi. According to AC Nielsen, U.S. consumers spent $540 million on antibacterial products in 1999 and annual spending will continue to grow through 2005.

The full-day conference is intended for the HVAC, construction, food processing, food equipment, and medical equipment industries. Attendees will learn about research, trends, and applications, including:

  • The demand for antimicrobial compounds and antimicrobial-coated products.

  • A technical review of how antimicrobials work.

  • Overviews from manufacturers using antimicrobial technology.

  • An update on industry-specific issues antimicrobials might help address.

To register or learn more about the conference, e-mail info@antimicrobialconference.com or visit www.antimicrobialconference.com.
