MoreMIDDLETOWN, OH — An October conference will examine antimicrobial coatings and how manufacturers can use these coatings to bring an added measure of cleanliness to consumer and industrial products. The demand for antimicrobial compounds and antimicrobial-coated products. A technical review of how antimicrobials work. Overviews from manufacturers using antimicrobial technology. The conference, called "Tapping Into Market Opportunities with Antimicrobial Technology: Methods for Product Enhancement," is being presented by AK Coatings, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of AK Steel Corp. It is scheduled for Tuesday, October 8, at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare, in Chicago, IL.
Antimicrobial coatings inhibit the growth of bacteria, molds, and fungi. According to AC Nielsen, U.S. consumers spent $540 million on antibacterial products in 1999 and annual spending will continue to grow through 2005.
