Oct. 7, 2003: Emerson Launches Latin American Operation

ST. LOUIS — Emerson officially introduced its Emerson Climate Technologies business to Latin America during Febrava 2003, a refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, heating, and air treatment trade show held in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Introduced in North America in 2002, Emerson Climate Technologies unites a number of Emerson divisions under a single brand to provide its technologies and solutions to customers worldwide in the HVACR industry. This trade show marked the first time these divisions exhibited together as a unified group in Latin America, displaying a range of Emerson products and services.

Emerson chief executive officer David N. Farr made the announcement along with Tom Bettcher, Emerson executive vice president and Emerson Climate Technologies business leader, and Eric Evans, group vice president for Emerson Climate Technologies' air conditioning business.

"Despite its challenges, Latin America remains one of our fastest growing markets, experiencing tremendous growth in infrastructure, as well as in key industries such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration," Farr said. "By introducing Emerson Climate Technologies to the region, we not only continue to strengthen our global leadership and position the company for strong growth, we also give our Latin American customers the integrated climate solutions and services they need to compete in an aggressive global marketplace."

In meetings with Brazilian customers, Bettcher highlighted opportunities that exist in Latin America, as well as the benefits Emerson Climate Technologies can bring to the region's manufacturers.

"In Latin America, we are experiencing strong growth in all our air conditioning and refrigeration system components, as well as compressors, controls, and sensors," Bettcher said. "By partnering with the region's HVAC and refrigeration manufacturers, we can capitalize on this growth and offer them the benefits of our combined strengths in technology and engineering, product innovation, and services. In turn, this gives our customers the ability to deliver advanced technology and offer more value to their customers."
