Nov. 4, 2002: September Unitary Shipments 10% Ahead Of Last Year
ARLINGTON, VA — According to Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) statistics, combined U.S. factory shipments of 452,751 central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps for September were up 10% compared to shipments from the same month last year. Combined unitary shipments for the first nine months of 5,656,587 are 7% ahead of last year’s pace.
Heat pump shipments included in the September 2002 figures totalled 100,516, down 6% compared to a year ago. The year-to-date total of 1,194,906, on the other hand, is up 3% from January-September 2001.
