Grooved mechanical piping has been changing the way contractors do business for more than 85 years, but this method of pipe joining is still unknown or misunderstood in some areas of the commercial building industry.
For securing PEX, CPVC, or copper piping in domestic hot- and cold-water systems and in hydronic heating applications when a job is in process or interrupted, the Speedfit test caps provide a leak-proof seal in conjunction with the company’s push-fit fittings.
At an AHR Expo press conference, Xylem Inc. announced that its Bell & Gossett ESP System Syzer is now available for mobile handheld devices. The ESP-System Syzer is calculates flow rates and pressure drops in piping systems.
While it’s often viewed as “new” and lumped in with other plastics, polypropylene pipe has in fact been used around the world for nearly 40 years and is highly engineered — offering HVAC application benefits that many other plastics can’t. It also offers several advantages over metal HVAC pipe systems.
The Advanced Groove System (AGS), a strong, large-diameter grooved mechanical piping system, is available in sizes up to 60 inches in diameter. It has a two-piece housing and a wedge-shaped groove that delivers pressure ratings up to 350 psi/2,400 kPa.
A steel frame clamp, the Hold-E pipe clamp, can secure pipe ¾ to 6 inches in diameter to standard vee head pipe stands. It is a clamp designed specifically for holding pipe during flange fit-up, short pipe lengths, or when fabricating pipe with branches.
