The Luxaire® LX Series of air conditioners combines some of the features of the premium Acclimate™ line with the MicroChannel coil technology. With smaller footprints than the Acclimate™ line, the LX Series has cooling capacities that range from 1.5 to 5 tons, and offer 13 and 14.5 seasonal energy efficiency ratios (SEER). The 14.5 SEER model meets or exceeds the 2009 ENERGY STAR® requirements of 14.5/12.0 EER. According to the manufacturer, the units are 30 percent lighter than those that use standard coil technologies, and they use up to 50 percent less refrigerant (either R-410A or R-22), which reduces the possibility of premature compressor failure and contributes to environmental responsibility and sustainability. The cabinets feature a stamped coil guard with a secondary polymer mesh for coil protection, and corner posts provide additional cabinet strength.
