Greenheck Gets Patent On Grease Filtration Hoods

SCHOFIELD, Wis. - The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued a patent to Greenheck for a two-stage air purification system its engineers invented for installation and operation within a kitchen ventilation hood. The Grease Grabberâ„¢ (GG) multi-stage filtration system is available in Greenheck kitchen hoods. The system uses the Greenheck Grease-X-Tractorâ„¢ (GX) filter along with a secondary filter to remove 80 percent of the grease from the airstream.

The GX is the primary filter and takes the brunt of the grease and heat and uses centrifugal impaction to remove large grease particles. The secondary filter uses a 1/2-inch packed bead bed to remove, by interception, the small particles of grease that are not removed by the GX filter.

The GG filtration system utilizes these two filters to remove 100 percent of the particles that are 8 microns or larger in diameter and 80 percent of the particles that are 3 microns in diameter.

Third-party testing using the latest technology to measure grease extraction devices has verified that the GG removes more grease than any other filter on the market.

Greenheck's patented dual filtration system eliminates costly repairs and maintenance by filtering out more of the grease within the hood, which results in less grease accumulation in the ductwork and on the roof. The dual filtration system will also help meet emerging air quality regulations. Both filters in the new filtration system can be easily removed, washed, and returned to the hood for years of efficient operation, according to the company.
