Feb. 17, 2004: Rees Scholarships Awarded To Two Students

ARLINGTON, Va. - David Grassl, of Milwaukee, and Daniel Izer, of Greencastle, Pa., have each been awarded $2,000 scholarships from the Clifford H. "Ted" Rees Jr. Scholarship Foundation, which encourages students to seek careers in the HVACR industry.

Grassl, a graduate of Dodgeville High School in Dodgeville, Wis., is attending the Milwaukee School of Engineering, where he is working towards a degree in architectural engineering. Grassl also serves as vice president of the Milwaukee School of Engineering's student chapter of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

Izer graduated from Greencastle-Antrim High School in Greencastle, Pa., and is enrolled in the Pennsylvania College of Technology, in Williamsport, where he serves as president of the student chapter of the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA).

The Rees Scholarship is named for Clifford H. "Ted" Rees Jr., who served as president of the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) from 1994 through 2001.

To apply for a 2005 scholarship, the deadline is Oct. 29, 2004. Applicants must complete a form indicating prior education, work history/military service, and supply two letters of recommendation along with a 150-word typed essay on why they should be awarded a scholarship.

Rees Scholarships are paid directly to the school or institution, and can be used for tuition, books, and supplies.
