Feb. 14, 2003: Mold, Other IAQ Topics Set For ACCA Conference

ARLINGTON, Va. — During the educational program at its 2003 Conference, the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) will offer a series of workshops focusing on mold and moisture issues for HVACR contractors.

The 2003 ACCA Conference & Indoor Air Expo will be held March 12-15, 2003 in Palm Springs, Calif.

During the "Mold & Moisture Track" of concurrent educational sessions, contractors can attend such workshops as:

  • "Selling a Healthy Indoor Environment," led by Ronnie Head of Head's Heating & Air Conditioning and Dick Shaw of ACCA. This workshop will center on indoor environmental challenges and solutions related to mold, comfort, and healthy living environments. The session will show how to look at the entire building system, as it relates to HVAC. Contractor Ronnie Head has spent the last five of his 38 years in contracting devoted to specializing on this issue. This session is designed to show specifically what works, and what doesn't, when it comes to selling, designing, and installing healthy and comfortable systems.

  • "The Standard of Care for Proper Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ)," led by Glenn Hourahan of ACCA. This seminar will identify sound industry practices that will lead to proper building IEQ, says ACCA. In so doing, building owners and consumers will receive the comfortable and healthy indoor environments they seek, and HVAC contractors can minimize callbacks and liability exposure while securing a profitable niche in the marketplace, the association says.

  • "Evaluating Building Performance & IAQ," led by Gordon Sharp of Aircuity. This session will cover the guidelines being used to evaluate a building's delivered performance, including commissioning, during normal operation, and during the renovation process. It will include updates on new technologies that contractors can use to profit from new opportunities, states ACCA.
