The DuCool dehumidification and cooling system line is designed for the food processing industry. According to the manufacturer, food processing plants in humid climates often struggle to maintain low humidity levels without spending considerable amounts of energy, and air is either overcooled to reduce humidity and then reheated to comfortable working conditions or the plant installs a solid desiccant wheel, which requires considerable maintenance and demands more energy use. The liquid desiccant technology in the dehumidification and cooling units enables optimal temperature and humidity levels without overcooling. By passing through the brine solution, the units remove approximately 91 percent of the airborne microorganisms and 80 percent of particles larger than 5 microns in a single pass, the company states.
