Wednesday – January 16, 2002: Staefa Announces New TALON Hvac Control System

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — At the Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Expo here, Staefa Control System announced the making of an all new hvac control system, TALON.

According to Tom Carlin, president of the company’s Hvac Products Unit, TALON is a “true top to bottom open protocol system, using native LonMark® controllers.” It combines the system level applications, network management, and programming tools designed to optimize open system facility management. Its building control applications run seamlessly with various communication protocols, he said.

TALON offers “perfect fit system scalability through a wealth of control options.” It features an Internet-based graphical user interface (GUI), network management, and engineering tools powered by Niagara Framework®, and an all new family of native LonMark programmable and application specific controllers. To round out the system, Staefa TALON dealers are able to offer the full line of Siemens® end devices: valves, sensors, and actuators, said Carlin.

“TALON is the best total package in open systems building controls,” he said. “It brings amazing ease of use and flexibility to the user by normalizing data into a common format that can be viewed, commanded and programmed over the Internet. And it incorporates everything from the latest advances in communications technology and a new family of packaged and programmable hvac controllers to the Staefa TALON dealer’s single-source offering of controls, end devices, training, and customer satisfaction.”

TALON offers real open systems interoperability, which means controller data sharing and reporting between multiple protocols for effective facility management is a reality, said Carlin. Internet system access, control and editing for ease of use is also a reality, he said. Off-site system programming and maintenance for efficient control is also possible plus this capability is securely delivered to any networked, dial-up, or Internet enabled PC or wireless device, said Carlin.
