Utilities for the Week: NorthWestern Corp. and Montana Power Co.

The Montana Power Co. (Butte, MT) announces that NorthWestern Corp. (Sioux Falls, SD), an energy and communications company, has finalized a definitive agreement to acquire Montana Power's electric and natural gas utility business for approximately $1.1 billion. The transaction is expected to close during the first half of 2001. NorthWestern’s partner entities include Blue Dot Services (Sunrise, FL).
