According to the manufacturer, hospital isolation rooms are set at a lower pressure than adjoining spaces to contain infectious particles; the PresSura® room controls measure the actual room pressure differential in these rooms. The pressure sensor is mounted above the entrance to the isolation room, and the Digital Interface Module (DIM) usually is mounted near the entrance to the isolation room or at the nursing station. The sensor measures and sends room pressure information to the DIM. In turn, the DIM reports room pressure and activates the red alarm light and an audible alarm whenever the preset alarm level is reached. Controller versions of the PresSura also modulate the exhaust air volume to correct for room pressure fluctuations as they occur. The unit has a hidden operator panel, which provides detailed room status information, self-testing capabilities, and access to the software programming functions.
