Tribes To Develop Renewable Energy

The Department of Energy (DOE) awarded $1.3 million to eight Native American tribes for renewable energy projects that will be developed on their lands. Funding will go toward feasibility studies on tribal lands in Alaska, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Washington, and Wisconsin.

According to the DOE, four of the tribes will look into general renewable energy resources, while the other four will explore specific technologies including biofuel for power production, wind power, and hybrid power using both wind power and hydropower.
