The Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) announced that its 2015-2016 Student Chapter Competition, an annual challenge of future industry professionals’ skills and knowledge about mechanical systems and the business of contracting, drew 26 submissions.

Online course focuses on dealing with the threat of fire at work

UL Workplace Health & Safety has released a complimentary training course on extinguishing fires in the workplace. Part of its online eLearning library, the course provides instructions for addressing a fire in a nonresidential setting.
Many manufacturers have developed their own programs in order to train and educate contractors and technicians on their products. And, within those programs, many manufacturers place a high priority on safety education.
By expanding its offerings and locations, administrators at Blackhawk Technical College are hoping to increase the number of qualified technicians, as well. In August 2014, the college moved its two-year HVAC program, as well as other manufacturing programs, into a new 105,000-square-foot facility, which is situated away from the school’s central campus.

Danfoss announced it has broken ground on a new state-of-the-art laboratory for the testing of HVACR equipment. The company said the new center also will facilitate training and serve as a research and development center for future innovation.
