Installation: Maverick™ II 40-ton rooftop system, RoofPak™ 42-ton rooftop system with a heat recovery wheel, Vision™ indoor air handling unit, and Daikin split system units, 1.5 tons (18,000 BTU) Model FTXS indoor units and Model RX outdoor units from McQuay International.

Completion: November 2011

Objective: Provide mechanical equipment for a LEED® Platinum HVAC system.

Work Completed: What began as a dream in 2002 recently became reality for members of Sheet Metal Workers Local 36 as the group unveiled its new $15 million LEED Platinum certified headquarters in St. Louis. Rock Hill Mechanical Corp. and Thermal Mechanics Inc. provided the majority of the HVAC equipment including a Maverick™ II 40-ton rooftop system, a RoofPak™ 42-ton rooftop system with a heat recovery wheel, a Vision™ indoor air-handling unit, and Daikin split system units from McQuay International. The 95,000-square-foot building boasts several LEED Platinum contributing features including a roof rainwater collection and irrigation cistern system, four wind turbines, geothermal systems, solar domestic hot water systems, and 357 photovoltaic panels. LEED Platinum status, the highest ranking given by the U.S. Green Building Council, requires a facility meets a minimum of 52 green requirements. The highest number of achievable points is 69. The Local 36 facility fulfilled 64 of those benchmarks.
